Aurora Assessments provides a comprehensive report outlining disability related costs for both current and future needs. Costs of future care are important for individuals who have alterations in their ability to do their daily activities as a result of injury or chronic illness. Cost of future care reports specific to pediatrics is an area of expertise for Aurora Assessments.
The Cost of Future Care analysis combines functional information with all available collateral information as well as medical diagnosis and prognosis to determine a client’s future care needs. Functional information can be gathered from the Functional Capacity Evaluation and/or in-home and community functional testing.
Recommendations are meant to assist in restoring the client to as close to preinjury function as possible, while maximizing independence, preventing functional deterioration, and providing assistance where necessary.
Areas addressed in a Cost of Future Care report may include:
- Rehabilitative or adaptive equipment
- Medication and medical supplies
- Allied health therapies
- Strategies for health maintenance and injury prevention
- Home renovations to improve accessibility
- Professional services (e.g. personal care)
- Transportation and home maintenance
- Vocational, educational, or training recommendations.
A summary of expenses for the recommendations and anticipated frequency of replacement is included. Further actuarial analysis is required for assessing present day valuation.
